Job Requirements:
This job requires a minimum of a high school diploma or GED. Experience or education in mental health, human services, health care or special education preferred. Experience in working with adults with intellectual disabilities is a plus. Emotional maturity and patience to understand and accept the social, psychological and emotional needs of adults with intellectual disabilities is critical. Strong oral and written communication skills is desired. Job Summary:
This position is in a Group Home setting for Adults with Developmental Disabilities. The Direct Support Professional is responsible for program participants well-being by providing a secure and responsive environment that enables each individual to maximize his/her physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual capabilities. The DSP is also responsible for the day-to-day operation of the work site.

Foster Home Case Worker

Positions available in: Chester, VA
Department:  Children’s Ministries
Schedule: Full-Time 37.5 hours per week Monday – Friday 8:30 am – 5:00 pm. Hours may vary depending on the needs of foster families and children placed in the home.

Job Requirements:
A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in social work from a college or university accredited by the Council on Social Work Education or a field related to social work such as sociology, psychology, special education or counseling with a student placement in casework services to children and families or one year of experience providing casework services to children and families OR a Bachelor’s  degree in any field plus two years experience in providing casework services to children and families. Candidate must demonstrate the emotional maturity and ability to deal effectively with social, psychological and emotional problems of children in foster home settings. Must demonstrate the leadership, knowledge, skills and abilities to carry out program goals and objectives.  Knowledge of family systems, community resources, adolescent behaviors and mental health issues.  Must possess necessary skills and abilities to make appropriate independent decisions and work in a team environment. Job Summary: 

The caseworker is responsible for providing casework services to children placed in treatment foster care homes and their certified foster families.  Responsibilities include completing monitoring visits and contacts in the foster home, providing training, support and guidance to certified foster parents, preparing and maintaining foster home records in accordance with licensure standards and conducting home studies.

 Intake Worker / Quality Assurance

Department:  Foster Care
Schedule:  Full-Time Hours vary according to placement times and the needs of the foster families/children

Job Requirements:

Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in social work or a field related to social work including, but not limited to, sociology, psychology, special education, or counseling and 1 year of experience in providing casework services to children and families; OR a bachelor’s  degree in any field plus 2 years experience providing casework services to children and families.  Must be 21 years of age and have a valid driver’s license as well as an acceptable driver history record.  Must have the ability to represent the Agency in a positive manner.

Job Summary:
Responsibilities include completing intake documentation, to include referral, initial service plan, intake assessment, social history and Medicaid approval. Additional duties include interviewing children/families, preparing and leading group activities and completing home recertification. May need to carry caseload to accommodate increasing placements for staff absences. Must demonstrate the emotional maturity and ability to deal effectively with social, psychological and emotional problems of children.  Knowledge of family systems, community resources, adolescent behaviors, and mental health issues.

This person must demonstrate the emotional maturity and patience necessary to understand and accept the social, psychological and emotional needs of adults with developmental disabilities, nurturing their self-sufficiency and enhancing their quality of life.  The candidate must possess good oral and written communication skills, and computer skills.  Applicants must be 21 years of age, possess a valid driver’s license, and hold an acceptable driving record.  Must have the ability to represent the Agency in a positive manner.

Job Summary: 
The Manager coordinates services and care for all residents in the home(s) for which he/she is responsible including, but not limited to, providing a secure and responsive environment so that each resident may have the opportunity to maximize his/her physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual capabilities.  The Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation of one or more group homes, including the overall supervision, scheduling and coordination of the staff of each home under his/her care.

Associate Director

Position available in: Richmond, VA
Department:   DDM (Developmental Disabilities Ministry)
Schedule: Full-time 37.5 hours per week Monday – Friday 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Job Requirements:
This position requires a Master’s Degree in Social Work or in the Human Services field and at least three years’ experience in the management of group homes or residential facilities.   Must possess demonstrated ability to understand Human Rights and advocate for persons with disabilities.  In state travel is required to include overnight travel as needed. The Associate Director must represent HopeTree Family Services in a positive manner. Candidates must be 21 years of age, possess a valid driver’s license, and hold an acceptable driving record.

Job Summary: 
The Associate Director will direct  the operation of DDM Residential, In-home and Respite programs in the assigned areas, providing overall supervision and management of DDM staff, coordinating professional development and maintaining compliance with the requirements of regulatory authorities.   The Associate Director will provide input to the Vice President of DDM for overall planning and implementation of the Developmental Disabilities Ministry program.

Residential Counselor

Position available in: Craig County, VA
Department:  Children’s Ministry – Boy’s WOODS Program
Schedule:  Full Time – 3 Days On and 3 Days Off / On-Site Shifts

Job Requirements:
The Residential Counselor shall have a Bachelor’s Degree in human services; an Associates Degree and 3 months experience working with children; OR a high school diploma or GED and have 6 months experience working with children. The Residential Counselor shall have demonstrated, through previous life and work experiences, an ability to maintain a stable environment and to provide guidance to children in the age range for which they will be responsible. He/she must possess the ability to represent HopeTree Family Services in the community and have the ability to function as part of a team. Good written and oral communication skills a must. Must have knowledge of adolescent behaviors and appropriate boundaries with clients.  Applicants must be 21 years of age, possess a valid driver’s license, and hold an acceptable driving record. Staff will work a 3 day on and 3 day off shift that requires staff to remain on campus the entire shift.

Job Summary:
 The Residential Counselor has the direct responsibility for guidance and supervision of at-risk teen males in a residential setting as well as on day/extended wilderness outings. Counselor will provide social, behavioral, vocational, academic opportunities for learning; facilitate the day-to-day schedules, groups, discipline and progress of youth.  Responsibilities include documentation for licensing/program guidelines, overseeing physical care of youth, development of acceptable habits and attitudes, managing behaviors, assisting to meet goals and objectives required of individual service plans.

 Instructional Assistant

Schedule:  considered temporary full-time for academic school year

Job Requirements:
Minimum Associate’s Degree and/or teaching or teacher’s aid experience working with special education and/or  “at risk” populations is preferred.  Must be able to work in an environment with distractions and frequent interruptions. Must be respectful to and empathetic of “at risk” students.

Job Summary:
The Instructional Assistant is responsible for providing assistance to instructional programs and assisting teachers in achieving educational objectives and skills by working with individual students and small groups in various learning environments. This professional assists the teacher in providing a well-organized, smoothly-functioning class environment in which students can take full advantage of the instructional program and available resource materials on their individual academic functioning level. ______________________________________________________________

 Special Education IEP Coordinator 

Position available in: Salem, VA
Department: HopeTree Academy
Schedule: Regular Full Time

Job Requirements:

A Master’s Degree in education or related field.  At least five years’ experience in Special Education Administration and Supervision, with Special Education Endorsements, to teach emotionally disturbed, intellectually disabled and/or specific learning disabled students.  Must be able to demonstrate professional leadership, knowledge of special education concepts applicable, to a middle/secondary school educating residential and day, disabled and non-disabled “at risk” youth.  Must have the ability to represent HopeTree Academy and HopeTree Family Services in a positive manner to the community.

Job Summary:

This position will provide professional advice and counsel regarding special education to the teaching faculty and administration of HopeTree Academy.  He/she will assist the Education Administrator and Education Supervisor in Special Education IEP Case Management and coordinating transition from high school to post-secondary education or training.

 Science Teacher

Position available in: Salem, VA

Job Requirements:

The position requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from an accredited college or university.  A current Science teacher’s license to teach to middle and secondary education levels with endorsements for experience working with students with disabilities and other “at-risk” students is preferred. The teacher must be able to demonstrate the professional ability to deal effectively with a wide range of student dysfunctional behaviors and academic deficiencies with students ages 11-22.

Job Summary:

This position will provide social, moral and academic opportunities for learning.  Will communicate with and work cooperatively with child care and social work staff to ensure optimal direct supervision of all students.  Will maintain a close working relationship with the educational staff within the Academy.  The teacher must demonstrate the ability to represent HopeTree Family Services and HopeTree Academy in a positive manner.

Administrative Assistant

Position available in: Martinsville, VA
Department:   Foster Care
Schedule: Full-time 30 hours per week

Job Requirements:
Position requires a minimum of a high school diploma; a graduate of an accredited business college and/or four years secretarial experience.   Must have ability to work independently as well as in a team atmosphere; have excellent verbal and written communication skills; be proficient in Microsoft Office programs and operating systems. Position requires excellent typing skills and proper knowledge of grammar and usage. Must demonstrate the ability to represent HopeTree Family Services in a positive manner. Must be 21 years of age and have a valid driver’s license and hold  an acceptable driving record.

The Administrative Assistant will be an organized individual who will provide the overall administrative, secretarial and clerical management and support to our Foster Care Staff and foster families.
