Job Requirements:
This job requires a minimum of a high school diploma or GED. Experience or education in mental health, human services, health care or special education preferred. Experience working with adults with intellectual disabilities is a plus. Emotional maturity and patience to understand and accept the social, psychological and emotional needs of adults with intellectual disabilities is critical. Strong oral and written communication skills is desired. Applicants must be 21 years of age, possess a valid driver’s license, and hold an acceptable driving record. Must have the ability to represent HopeTree Family Services in a positive manner.

Job Summary:
These positions are in a Group Home setting for Adults with Developmental Disabilities AND also available within our In Home Program. The Direct Support Professional is responsible for program participants well-being by providing a secure and responsive environment that enables each individual to maximize his/her physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual capabilities.

Group Home Manager 

Positions available in:   Abingdon, VA – Fredericksburg, VA – Martinsville, VA –                                                              Richmond, VA, – Salem, VA
Department:   DDM (Developmental Disabilities Ministry)
Schedule:  Full-time; 37.5 hrs/wk; M – F 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Job Requirements:
A minimum of an Associates Degree is required; a Bachelor’s Degree is preferred or equivalent work experience.  At least three years of full-time direct service with persons with intellectual disabilities, human services, healthcare or special education is needed.  The Manager must have demonstrated leadership ability. This person must demonstrate the emotional maturity and patience necessary to understand and accept the social, psychological and emotional needs of adults with developmental disabilities, nurturing their self-sufficiency and enhancing their quality of life.  The candidate must possess good oral and written communication skills, and computer skills.  Applicants must be 21 years of age, possess a valid driver’s license, and hold an acceptable driving record.  Must have the ability to represent the Agency in a positive manner.

Job Summary: 
The Manager coordinates services and care for all residents in the home(s) for which he/she is responsible including, but not limited to, providing a secure and responsive environment so that each resident may have the opportunity to maximize his/her physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual capabilities.  The Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the group home, including the overall supervision, scheduling and coordination of the staff under his/her care.

Area Coordinator 

Position available in: Salem, VA
Department:  
DDM (Developmental Disabilities Ministry)
Schedule: 
Full-time; 37.5 hrs/wk; M – F 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Job Requirements:
This position requires the minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree preferably in a human services field plus two years supervisory experience.  Minimum of five years equivalent work experience supervising a DBHDS licensed program will also be considered.  Good oral and written communication skills will be necessary.  Must possess a valid Virginia driver’s license and be insurable.  Must demonstrate the ability to understand and advocate for persons with disabilities, supervise and train staff, interpret and maintain appropriate regulations and licensure requirements, as well as represent the agency in the community in a positive manner.

Job Summary:
The Area Coordinator works to coordinate the management and supervision of group homes, staff and services in assigned.  The Area Coordinator coordinates case management for program participants and coordinates  program support to managers and families and ensures compliance with all necessary standards and regulations.  The Area Coordinator reports directly to the Eastern or Western Director of his/her area.

Instructional Assistant

Job Requirements:
Minimum Associate’s Degree and/or teaching or teacher’s aid experience working with special education and/or  “at risk” populations is preferred.  Must be able to work in an environment with distractions and frequent interruptions. Must be respectful to and empathetic of “at risk” students.

Job Summary:
The Instructional Assistant is responsible for providing assistance to instructional programs and assisting teachers in achieving educational objectives and skills by working with individual students and small groups in various learning environments. This professional assists the teacher in providing a well-organized, smoothly-functioning class environment in which students can take full advantage of the instructional program and available resource materials on their individual academic functioning level.

 Residential Counselor  

Position available in: New Castle, VA
Department:  
Children’s Ministry – Boy’s WOODS Program
Schedule: 
Full Time – 3 days on / 3 days off

Job Requirements:
The Residential Counselor shall have a bachelor’s degree in human services; an associates degree and 3 months experience working with children; OR a high school diploma or GED and have 6 months experience working with children. The Residential Counselor shall have demonstrated, through previous life and work experiences, an ability to maintain a stable environment and to provide guidance to children in the age range for which they will be responsible. He/she must possess the ability to represent HopeTree Family Services in the community and have the ability to function as part of a team. Good written and oral communication skills a must. Must have knowledge of adolescent behaviors and appropriate boundaries with clients. Residential Counselors must be at least 21 years of age.

Job Summary:
The Residential Counselor will provide supervision on day/extended wilderness outings; provide social, behavioral, vocational, academic opportunities for learning; facilitate the day-to-day schedules, groups, discipline and progress of youth.  Documentation for licensing/program guidelines. Overseeing physical care of youth, development of acceptable habits and attitudes, managing behaviors; assisting in meeting the goals and objectives required of individual service plans; transportation of residents as necessary

Custodian  

Position available in: Salem, VA
Department:

Schedule: 
Part-Time Monday – Friday 5:00 pm – 9:00 pm, 17-20 hours/week

Job Requirements:

The Custodian must have a high school diploma, GED or previous work experience. Able to perform physical activities such as climbing, lifting, balancing, stooping and handling of materials. Must have reliable transportation. Must be at least 21 years old. Pre-employment drug screens and background checks

Job Summary:
The part-time custodian will be responsible for maintaining assigned campus buildings in clean and orderly condition.
