Job Requirements:
This job requires a minimum of a high school diploma or GED. Experience or education in mental health, human services, health care or special education preferred. Experience in working with adults with intellectual disabilities is a plus. Emotional maturity and patience to understand and accept the social, psychological and emotional needs of adults with intellectual disabilities is critical. Strong oral and written communication skills is desired. Must be over 21 years of age, possess a good driving record and a valid driver’s license. Must have the ability to represent HopeTree Family Services in a positive manner.

Job Summary:
This position is in a Group Home setting for Adults with Developmental Disabilities. The Direct Support Professional is responsible for program participants well-being by providing a secure and responsive environment that enables each individual to maximize his/her physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual capabilities. The DSP is also responsible for the day-to-day operation of the work site.

Foster Care Case Worker

Positions available in: Salem, VA
Department:  Children’s Ministries
Schedule: Full-Time 37.5 hours per week Monday – Friday 8:30 am – 5:00 pm

Job Requirements:
A minimum of a Master’s Degree in social work or a field related to social work such as sociology, psychology, special education or counseling with a student placement in casework services to children and families or one year of experience providing casework services to children and families  OR a baccalaureate degree in social work or a field related to social work including, but not limited to sociology, psychology, special education or counseling with a student placement in casework services to children and families  a  and one year of experience in providing casework services to children and families OR a baccalaureate degree in any field plus two years experience in providing  casework services to children and families. Candidate must demonstrate the emotional maturity and ability to deal effectively with social, psychological and emotional problems of children. Must demonstrate the leadership, knowledge, skills and abilities to carry out program goals and objectives.  Knowledge of family systems, community resources, adolescent behaviors and mental health issues.  Must possess necessary skills and abilities to make appropriate independent decisions and work in a team environment. The candidate must possess good oral and written communication skills, computer skills, be over 21 years of age, and possess a good driving record and a valid Virginia license.  Must have the ability to represent the Agency in a positive manner.

Job Summary: 

The caseworker is responsible for providing casework services to children placed in treatment foster care homes.  Responsibilities include completing home visits in the foster home to supervise foster child’s placement, linking clients with needed services, providing supportive counseling to foster parents and children for placement and/or discharge and preparing and maintaining client files in accordance with licensure standards. Additional duties include interviewing children and families, conducting home studies and carrying out social/treatment plans with children and families.  The hours of this position may vary according to the needs of the foster families and the children placed in their homes.

This person must demonstrate the emotional maturity and patience necessary to understand and accept the social, psychological and emotional needs of adults with developmental disabilities, nurturing their self-sufficiency and enhancing their quality of life.  The candidate must possess good oral and written communication skills, computer skills, be over 21 years of age, and possess a good driving record and a valid Virginia license.  Must have the ability to represent the Agency in a positive manner.

Job Summary: 
The Manager coordinates services and care for all residents in the home(s) for which he/she is responsible including, but not limited to, providing a secure and responsive environment so that each resident may have the opportunity to maximize his/her physical, emotional, intellectual and spiritual capabilities.  The Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation of one or more group homes, including the overall supervision, scheduling and coordination of the staff of each home under his/her care.

Residential Counselor

Residential Counselor Position available in: Salem, VA
Department:  Children’s Ministry
Schedule:  Full Time and Part time positions available

Job Requirements:
The Residential Counselor shall have a bachelor’s degree in human services; an associates degree and 3 months experience working with children; OR a high school diploma or GED and have 6 months experience working with children. The Residential Counselor shall have demonstrated, through previous life and work experiences, an ability to maintain a stable environment and to provide guidance to children in the age range for which they will be responsible. He/she must possess the ability to represent HopeTree Family Services in the community and have the ability to function as part of a team. Good written and oral communication skills a must. Must have knowledge of adolescent behaviors and appropriate boundaries with clients. Residential Counselors must be at least 21 years of age.

Job Summary:
The Residential Counselor has the direct responsibility for guidance and supervision of the residents to whom he/she is assigned including overseeing physical care, development of acceptable habits and attitudes, management of resident behavior, and helping to meet the goals and objectives of any required service plan.

Instructional Assistant

Schedule:  considered temporary full-time for academic school year

Job Requirements:
Minimum associate’s degree and/or teaching or teacher’s aid experience working with special education and/or  “at risk” populations is preferred.  Must be able to work in an environment with distractions and frequent interruptions. Must be respectful to and empathetic of “at risk” students.

Job Summary:
The Instructional Assistant is responsible for providing assistance to instructional programs and assisting teachers in achieving educational objectives and skills by working with individual students and small groups in various learning environments. This professional assists the teacher in providing a well-organized, smoothly-functioning class environment in which students can take full advantage of the instructional program and available resource materials on their individual academic functioning level.
