Congratulations to HopeTree Academy on their prize-winning float in the 2011 Salem Christmas Parade! The scale replica of Mabry Mill, built by HopeTree Academy students under the guidance of Vocational Instructor Wayne Perkins, took second place. Special thanks to HopeTree Academy faculty Dawn Alfonso, Heather Leisch, and Darryl Church, as well as all of the Vocational and Art students, for their time and effort!
We’d also like to thank the many generous donations that made this project possible. Thanks to Frank Smusz from Metal Roofing Supply for the custom-cut tin roof, Carroll Lee Smith and David Jackson for their generous lumber donation, Tidy Services for the use of their trailer, and Lowe’s for helping us out with the hardware.
